Sweet, spicy, tangy, and totally refreshing – this Fresh Strawberry Salsa is a vibrant twist on the classic tomato-based version. It’s quick to prepare, uses minimal ingredients, and is the perfect way to celebrate seasonal strawberries. The combination of juicy fruit, sharp onion, lemon, and fresh chillies creates a balance that’s both lively and satisfying.

Unlike traditional salsas that rely on cooked ingredients or oils, this one stays raw and crisp, making it ideal for warmer months or clean snacking. You get a generous dose of vitamin C, antioxidants, and natural fibre in every spoonful – all with no added preservatives. It’s a great way to sneak in more colour and nutrition without compromising on flavour.

Versatile enough for everything from party platters to light meals, this salsa works just as well with nachos and crackers as it does spooned over grain bowls, cottage cheese toast, grilled fish, or paneer. Chill it before serving to bring out the best of the sweet and spicy notes.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups hulled & diced strawberries
  • ¼ cup minced red onion
  • ¼ cup finely chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • 1-2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • ½ tbsp honey

Instructions

  • Step 1
  • In a large bowl, combine the strawberries, red onion, bell pepper, coriander, and green chillies. Toss gently to avoid bruising the fruit.

  • Taste and adjust seasoning – you can add more lemon for acidity or a pinch of honey if the strawberries aren’t sweet enough.
  • Step 4
  • Cover and refrigerate for 1–2 hours to allow the flavours to meld. Stir gently before serving.
  • Step 5
  • Serve cold with crackers, or as a topping for tacos, grilled paneer, or fish.
